However, it leaked badly when he had an accident in his bed and we ended up with a very wet mattress. We called the company to report the defective mattress protector and they put us through an extensive process of collecting information from the protector, faxing in multiple documents, designating the leaky areas of the protector and finally shipping it back to them. We then received a call from Protect-a-bed and said that they concluded that YES- the protector we had was indeed leaky (gee thanks!) but it was user error and NOT a manufacturer defect so they are not responsible! The customer service agent told me that we must not have followed the directions to wash and dry it properly which cause the protective barrier to warp. I responded that we had not even washed it prior to putting it on his bed so it could not have been our fault. Anyhow- I definitely do not recommend... This is the "Basic" model of the Protect-A-Bed Mattress Protector. Just make sure you know what you're getting. The "Basic" protector has a bit of a plastic feel. It correspondingly has a bit of a plastic noise when you lay on it. It's not like the cheap mattress protectors that can be REALLY loud and crinkly, and I think it's fine for a child's bed. But it wouldn't be desirable on an adult bed. Alternatively, Protect-A-Bed sells a "Premium" Mattress Protector, offering the same mattress protection, but with a more breathable, more plush (terry cloth-like) fabric, which is an excellent choice for adult beds. As long as you know what you're getting, this one can be a good choice, and it's worth spending the money over the louder mattress covers. Good price & works great but is a bit noisy when moving around on the bed. If you want the same protection but a quieter protector i'd suggest a different model.
