Was a little worried it would not fit, seeing the item is described as 9", but it fit just fine:-) Very easy to slide onto the mattress, and it covers the entire (top, bottom, sides) of the mattress. Best part: it is MADE IN USA!!! We have not had bedbugs, but the fact that this cover protects the mattress against it (mattress is in guestbedroom) makes me not stress out about guest bringing bugs into my house and me having to throw out all my mattresses! Great product, a little pricey for a cover, but it still worth paying more just to know it is made here in the USA and NOT in China like almost every other product out there.

It was easy to put on our son's futon-style mattress and has thus far has performed well at protecting said futon when said son's prolific bladder overwhelms his Pull-Ups at night. It has no smell, doesn't feel like it's going to rip when we move the zipper, and it feels like fabric (not completely soft like a sheet, but definitely not crinkly plastic like some of the cheap-o mattress covers out there).
